Digital Citizenship

How do YOU Stay Safe Online?

The Internet can be a wonderful resource and provides many learning opportunities.  We use it to research information, communicate with others, play interactive games, create sensational presentations, share ideas and much more. We are able to literally access the world. As we do this, we leave a trail called a digital footprint, which is shaped by every place we visit on the web. In order to learn and benefit from these opportunities, it is important to learn web netiquette (good web manners), make good decisions and practice online safety.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON IMAGE SHARING: Please keep in mind that everything we do digitally is saved forever in a database and is most likely backed up in several locations throughout the world. Actual people manage those databases and the information, including images, can be accessed. So, the image that you send to a friend is probably being viewed by a database manager in some other part of the world and people who are googling about you may have access to it even years later when you have completely forgotten about it.

Even though I know that plagiarism is a bad thing, thanks to your videos I remembered how horrible it was.Taking others work and giving them as yours is just lying to yourself.

Plagiarism destroys educational system and damages the students. I think we can only stop it if we put strict rules against plagiarism. Thanks for sharing.

Being a good digital citizen is a really important thing just like being a good citizen. Most of the people are not really thinking about their future when they’re doing things in online. There’s a really classic example about this. A girl who has graduated from MIT couldn’t work with windows because she has her naked pictures on online which one of her friends posted 10 years ago. Rather then our job career we shouldn’t give details about our personal life and the people who are close to us in online. Someone that we don’t know could find that and spread it around the world. We’re using this blog but we’re not gving details about our life to protect ourselves. I think from now on everyone shoul be so careful on online because knowldege is spreading through people much faster then the past and it’s a good thing in some ways but it could be a bad thing aswell.
